CityOn.Xi’an Shopping Center wins the 2018 Service Innovation Award from Mall China


(September 4, 2018)CityOn.Xi’an Shopping Center, a joint development by Taubman Asia and Wangfujing Group, was awarded with the 2018 Service Innovation Award in the Mall China Golden Mall Awards for its industry-leading customer service and operational performance. Further, Arthur Xu, General Manager of CityOn.Xi’an, was named 2018 Professional Youth Leader for his leading management performance and deep insights into the commercial real estate sector.

In winning the award, CityOn.Xi’an’s integration of O2O technologies with offline retail services has been highlighted, with the innovation introducing to a series of convenient services and facilities for the first time to customers in Xi’an and China. These include China’s first Didi offline experience store at which points can be redeemed and taxi-reservation services are offered; China’s first SF Express courier station within a mall, extending more convenience to consumers, tenants and the surrounding community; Northwest China’s first Smart Preference Location in partnership with Mobike that provides CityOn updates to Mobike users; and, Northwest China’s first shared PonyCar flagship store. These facilities have not only boosted convenience for consumers, tenants and the nearby community, but have also boosted sales and increased footfall at CityOn.Xi’an.
CityOn.Xi’an provides over 30 complementary services for customers, including the first gender-specific parking scheme in Xi’an and dedicated nursing rooms certified by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

Arthur Xu, General Manager of CityOn.Xi’an and winner of the 2018 Professional Youth Leader award, joined the team in 2014 and spearheaded four measures for the retail development, including; refining the approach in attracting department store tenants; evolving the development’s property management initiatives; managing costs by integrating resources; and, revamping retail strategies. These measures have seen CityOn.Xi’an achieve rapid growth in sales and footfall in just the second year of its opening, as well as receiving widespread recognition from government officials, industry professionals, mainstream media and consumers.
In addition, CityOn.Zhengzhou was given the 2018 Best Marketing Award by Mall China Golden Mall Awards for its unique marketing strategies during the opening season, encouraging wide awareness in Central China.
Launched in 2006, the Mall China Golden Awards have been held for 13 consecutive years, becoming a reference point and benchmark for evaluating business development capabilities. Currently, over 5,000 domestic and international professionals have attended the annual conference hosted by Mall China, which has become a critical platform for latest trends and opportunities in China’s retail sector.
